Giants’ WR Victor Cruz was on the air this afternoon on WFAN with Mike Francesa:
On the team….“Overall, it wasn’t what we wanted but we have some things to look forward to. Some younger guys stepped up for us towards the end of the season. So we have some things to look forward to going into next year.”
On the last game…“We wanted to finish this season off on a positive note, and I think we did that. That team you saw out there that last game, that’s the team that we are….unfortunately, we couldn’t be that team when it counted the most.”
On the Giants’ historically bad performance in the second halves of seasons ….“I wish I had and answer for you. I have no idea…I guess we get complacent a little bit or get comfortable in our position and let a few slip away and think we’ll have out normal late-season and continue that into the postseason, but unfortunately that didn’t work out for us…”
On his contract negotiations….”I feel positive. Obviously, you never know with ongoing negotiations, but I feel positive that I’m going to be in New York for a very long time.”
Cruz told Francesa he believes the Giants offense will get back to it’s dominance next year when WR Hakeem Nicks comes back 100% from foot an knee problems.
With several veterans due to be released or no re-signed, Cruz also said he feels comfortable stepping up as a team leader and a voice that rallies the team.
