Painter expected to re-sign with Giants

Backup quarterback Curtis Painter is expected to re-sign with the Giants (Garafolo, March 11).

Painter signed a one-year deal to come to the Giants before the 2013 season.

This is simply an insurance move for the Giants just in case Ryan Nassib craps out. Painter is not a great backup by any means, but should Nassib fail to progress, the club needs some assurance they have someone competent.

Why not David Carr, you ask? No idea. He’s without a job these days and it’s baffling why the Giants keep choosing Painter over Carr.

I don't get the rush in bringing Painter back, think they should have went a different route but it should be Nassib's job anyway but still not sure why Painter.

@mike23  .....  I was never a Carr fan, so having Painter instead is no big deal to me. The thing I question is why have Painter or Carr at all, unless they are really very concerned about Nassib's current lack of development. In my opinion, he was an absolute waste of TWO draft picks.
