New York Giants news for January 7

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

Good morning. Absolutely brick out there today. Please stay warm.

Not much happening in the way of the Giants these days. Still performing their year-end evaluations to see who stays and who goes. Rumored to be on the bubble are ST coordinator Tom Quinn and QB coach Sean Ryan. Not sure if they are released or reassigned at this point.

The search for an new OC begins (and maybe ends) with Mike Sullivan, who is expected to interview here this week. DC Perry Fewell interviewed for the vacant Redskins HC position. He is one of what seems to be an endless string of candidates.

Safety Stevie Brown told Dan Salamone of Giants.com that his rehab from ACL surgery is going well and that he would love to return to the Giants next year. Brown is scheduled to be come an unrestricted free agent in March.

“It’s a great team,” said Brown. “It’s a great organization, great people around here all the time, great fan base — everything like that. So it’s definitely a place I want to be. It’s just now we’ve got to talk to everybody upstairs [in the front office] and see where it goes from there.”

OT Will Beatty underwent surgery to repair his broken right tibia. From SNYGiants insider Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News:

Some good news about that? The source said Beatty is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. Beatty, who had a very rough 2013, had been a question mark to be ready for the regular season, and coach Tom Coughlin even talked of moving Justin Pugh to the left side on WFAN last week.
