Giants president and co-owner John Mara presented the East Rutherford YMCA with a $250,000 check Thursday morning to help create the Mara Family Day Care Center. During the ceremony, Mara spoke about the team’s upcoming season.
While he said that he would not make any predictions, Mara added, “I feel good about our team.” He also said that he was “the same idiot” who thought the team had a chance at the Super Bowl last season (Daily News, July 17).
Mara pointed out that fans should not expect the team to go on another spending spree, saying “if you’re that aggressive every year, that means there’s something wrong with your organization” (Daily News, July 17).
In terms of who will and will not be on the field this upcoming season, Mara said that it appears David Wilson, who had offseason neck surgery, will be ready to play (Daily News, July 17). He also added that seeing former defensive captain Justin Tuck, who signed a two-year contract with the Oakland Raiders in March, in a different uniform was “really gonna hurt” (Daily News, July 17).
