As we said yesterday, Rolle will likely play this season without an extension. Of course the Giants could extend at any time, but he’d have come way down in price to agree to their terms. Right now, he’s a 31 year-old with a cap hit of $9.25 million. He’ll never see those numbers again. Not here, anyhow.

Snee will likely retire after this year. Unless he’s the Six Million Dollar Man. We hope he plays the entire season, but seeing is believing. Don’t see him playing another year, but never say never…

JPP is another one singing for his supper here in 2014. He’s got to show the Giants he’s back, or they’ll let him test the market.

The Giants would like to keep Prince, Thurmond and Stevie Brown around for awhile, so if all three are contributing, I see the club seeking to extend at least the corners midyear.

If Will Hill doesn’t get himself jammed up this season, the Giants will surely tender him.

Need to resign Prince, JPP, and Hill. Also, Rolle at the right price. Maybe Thurmond. Everyone else can walk, they are depth

" I see the club seeking to extend at least the corners midyear."

Prince held out and eventually signed a 4 year deal.  If that was his choice, my guess is he'll want to become a free agent to test the market and maximize his value.

That UFA list looks mighty long. Is it normal to have that many people on said list? Or is it a sign of poor roster managment? Or perhaps just a by product of team going through a significant overhaul to their personnel?

1 - What is their projected cap for next year's FA?

2 - Let's not forgot that Eli is playing for a contract as well next year. Obviously he will stay with the team but there is no denying that he needs to step up for his next contract.

3 - if Hill/Brown perform, I think Antrel's money can be better spent. But if Rolle's leadership and performance continue, he should be brought back.

4 - JPP should be fine. But he will need to show a lot more than health to stay long term IMO.

The way corners are being paid, I don't think he is coming back. And with DRC, Thurmond, McBride and Hosely plus anyone taken in this draft, and Prince's replacement is already on the roster. Maybe Dennard or Gilbert at 12 could come in and be groomed.

@Peter Sinapi   The Giants will have approximately $25 million in cap space (assuming the salary cap doesn't increase from its current $133 million). This doesn't include the significant leverage the Giants will have to force Kiwi to take a pay cut. (If the Giants cut Kiwi after this season, they will save $4+ million against the cap with only $2 million dead money. He will almost certainly restructure unless he has a killer season this year).

Also, that doesn't include Eli Manning's cap situation. After this season, Eli will have 1 year left on his deal for ~$20 million...but the Giants can cut him and save $17.5 million against the cap with only $2.25 million in dead money. If things don't go well for Eli this year, the Giants can very well find themselves in a full on rebuild next off-season with $43 million in cap space or more.

If he performs like last year, he will be lucky to get the same deal.

He will be lucky to even play of he leads th league in INTs again. My guess is both Reese and TC will be out if this team stumbles again. And with Nassib getting paid $660K, a new GM might want to "rebuild". But I don't think that will be the case. This team has loaded up for this year.

With literally our entire secondary + JPP as free agents?

Let's say he throws 25 INTs next year. (He's already done it twice in the last four years). And we miss the playoffs for a 3rd straight year. Eli will be 34 years old.

You're telling me the Giants will pay him $20 million when only $2 million is guaranteed?

Eli is here until his contract is up, like it or not. Even if he has a terrible season he isn't going to be traded or cut, they just wouldn't give him an extension

Either way, his money would be off the books.
