The Giants and Jon Beason have agreed on a new deal (Kinkhabwala, March 12).
The two sides were in “heated discussions” on Wednesday afternoon (Schefter, March 12).
The 29-year-old played in 12 games with the Giants in 2013.
John Fennelly, Lead WriterAbsolutely the best news Giant fans can hear right now. Beason is the key to everything the Giants have been doing on defense and losing him would mean starting over.
He’s not only a beast of a linebacker, he gets the defense lined up play-in and play-out. In less than a season, Beason became the face of the Giants’ defense, garnering respect from his teammates, coaches, fans and opponents in the process.
It’s no coincidence that the Giants stonewalled some of the NFL’s top rushing attacks last season after inserting Beason in the middle of their defense.
Good move – strike that - great move for the Giants today.
