Eli Manning expects higher completion percentage this year

Eli Manning is answering questions from fans on Reddit, and someone asked him about his new Offensive Coordinator Ben McAdoo.

“With Ben McAdoo taking over as OC, what changes can we as fans expect to see in the offense this year?” Reddit user yracuse_ asked.

Eli’s answer:

“I would expect to see a higher completion percentage, as well with being able to push the ball down the field and hit some big plays in the passing attack.”

Manning also talked about more important things, such as his smelliest center, he gave out dinner suggestions and that he prefers ‘N Sync over the Backstreet Boys.

It is interesting that Eli is coming out and making these claims that they are going to make a higher completion percentage because if it is anything like last year we know thats not true and unfortunately preseason did not tell a different story. Hopefully the new offensive coordinator and him have something up their sleeves they are waiting to debut. Only time will tell.

All I know is that the problems had in pre-season and last year he is going to have a very bad year and the fans and press will not give him a break; those two Super Bowls are long gone ....we need a QB that is in tune with McAdoo no bones about it. I like Nassib a lot.......he has guts, drive, and a tremendous amount of ambition to be the #1 QB for the Giants. If the Giants go 0-4, will Eli be behind the center ?

I don't think so.

Mike Francesca has a better shot at completing a triathlon than Eli ever will at throwing @ 70 per cent

Eli won't complete 70% of his passes this year. If he looks the way he did in pre season, He will be lucky if he completes 20% of his passes

Wow. Win two superbowls and write him off as no good? Eli has always been Eli. One horrible half, come back second half and beat you. He has ALWAYS needed a good line in front of him.

It's always starts with protection

@greekgod ... I would have to respectfully disagree with you, but NOT because I'm an Eli fan. I don't like Eli very much, and I think that Nassib was overrated as well when he was drafted by Reese. If Eli fails with this offense, it's simply because of one or a combination of two things... either this new system doesn't match his skill set, or Manning is extremely dependent on an Offensive line that can keep him upright long enough to find a receiver getting open at the last second. Since the OLine still hasn't gelled enough to adequately protect Manning from even the most average of defenses, I would say the problem with Eli is less about eroding mental or skill level, and more about the talent of the OLine in front of him.

If Eli goes down or continues to be ineffective, you can essentially write off the Giants 2014 season and another year of missing the playoffs. Nassib is not the answer, and was never as talented as Manning was coming out of college. Without Eli, the Giants will be picking in the Top 5 of the draft next season. Nassib is no Jeff Hostetler coming to the rescue of Phil Simms. It will be a VERY LONG season if Nassib has to take over for Eli Manning in any substantial way.

@spider43 I would agree that the offensive line is going to be a key factor in Eli and the Giants success or failure this year which goes back to management and their lack of putting an adequate line together again, I mean they made some changes but even if they were all healthy would it be good enough... I think Jerry Reese would need to take some of the negative press if the Giants do fail due to to a bad offensive line.

That being said Eli has to step up as well, I think Payton or Aaron Rodgers etc... could win games with this current giant team but after seeing the struggles in the pre season and Eli's horrid passing numbers I can only hope the giants were saving their best play for the regular season, maybe they didn't unleash the entire playbook as a way to be that much better when the season begins ( I mean could they really have looked that bad on offense, I mean were they really trying cause if so we may be in for a long season).
