Corey Webster to IR; Julian Talley to active roster

Corey Webster has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Julian Talley will be signed to the active roster (Orr).

This looks to be it for Webster, who had a horrible 2012, took a salary cut and needed a solid 2013 for the team to consider keeping him. Groin and ankle ailments restricted his season to four games. He will not be a UFA until 2015, but at this rate he would have to prove to be healthy for him to stick. He’s no longer an automatic.

Talley, like the player he is being brought in to replace – Victor Cruz – is a product of UMass. Jerrel Jernigan will actually take Cruz’ role in the slot, but the Giants will likely give Talley a look-see in the final two weeks on both specials and in the offense.

RB Kendall Gaskins will replace Talley on the practice squad.

This is one reason I am totally upset with Reese's lackluster approach this year. Webster could've been put on the season ending IR before the San Diego game so McBride didn't have to cover the likes of Antonio Gates with a torn groin. Reese has always been a favorite of mine, but the roster he has put together starting way back at camp isn't even close to being good enough to compete with the big boys this year. His evaluation of talent mystifies me and I as a fan am very concerned regarding the future of this organization

Jerrel Jernigan is a guy who's been pretty much of a flop for how many years?

I won't miss him.
