Cooper Taylor to IR; OL Herman promoted from PS

The Giants placed safety Cooper Taylor on season-ending injured reserve.

They signed guard Eric Herman off the practice squad. Herman was a seventh-round pick in the 2013 draft.

From the Giants: Taylor, a fifth-round selection, played in 10 games as a rookie. He suffered a hamstring injury in San Diego on Dec.8 and was inactive the last two weeks vs. Seattle and Detroit. Taylor had earlier missed three games with a shoulder injury.

Taylor saw most of his action on special teams. On Nov. 10 vs. Oakland, he picked up the ball after fellow rookie Damontre Moore blocked a Marquette King punt and returned it 21 yards for the Giants’ first touchdown in a 24-20 victory.

Herman was a seventh-round draft choice from Ohio University. He was waived on Aug. 31 and signed the following day to the practice squad, where he spent the entire season until his promotion today.

The Giants also signed defensive back Travis Howard from Ohio State to their practice squad.
