The Giants practiced today at TIMEX, with the walking wounded doing the best they can to prepare to play this week before the bye.
CB Michael Coe (Hamstring), S Kenny Phillips (Knee), G Chris Snee (Ankle) and LB Jacquian Williams (Knee) did not participate in practice today. Tom Coughlin said Snee was getting better each day and that Coe could practice this week. Williams will, like Phillips, be held out until after the bye.
Limited participation in practice: LB Chase Blackburn (Hamstring), RB Ahmad Bradshaw (Foot), DT Chris Canty (Groin), WR Hakeem Nicks (Knee), C David Baas (Ankle/Elbow), TE Bear Pascoe (Ankle) and LB Keith Rivers (Calf).
Coughlin on Nicks….“He did a normal rotation, what we call limited. Half or less.” The swelling in the knee “was down today.”
On Rivers possibly being an injury-prone player….” I hope not. He’s had some issues with his legs, that’s for sure; hamstrings, calf, whatever.”
On if Rivers will “good to go” this week….“We’re going to have to see. If you’re a member of the dressed squad, you have to do a lot of things. His issue is special teams; he has to play special teams, etc. He has a lot of things he would have to do. If he’s capable of doing that, he’d be a strong consideration.”
On Blackburn….“He did quite a bit, did quite a bit.”
On Canty…..“He did well.”
On if Will Hill was ready to play….“Conditioning-wise, looks like he’s in pretty good shape. He’s taking a lot of reps: scout team, that kind of thing.”
On if Diehl will play guard if Snee can’t play this week….”There’s a couple of options there. We’ve (tried) a couple combinations in there.”
Oh how practice has looked the past few days….“It’s been pretty good. I think it’s been good, energetic work. Guys are working hard, focused. Our final drills are just as energetic as the early ones. I’m pleased with that part.”
