SNYGiants Week 5 Prediction: Giants Over Browns

Here is how the SNYGiants staff sees today’s game vs Cleveland:

Sam Spiegelman: Tom Coughlin won’t allow his team to slip up with a possible “trap game” this week. The Giants’ crushing loss at the hands of the Eagles will serve as motivation to make a statement against the Browns. Despite who suits up at wide receiver this week, Eli Manning will exploit the Joe Haden-less secondary. And perhaps this is the game in which Coughlin decides to get back to the running game. A turnover-prone rookie and the lack of healthy offensive weapons should be the perfect remedy for a Giants defense looking to regain its form. Giants 34, Browns 17

Kel Dansby: The Giants defense will play well enough to keep this a low scoring game. Eli Manning will limit his turnovers and the offense will wear down the Browns defense on the ground. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Giants start slow in this contest and enter the half down by a few points, but with the help of a few big plays pull away from Cleveland in the third quarter. Giants 27, Browns 16

Jim Mancari: The Giants need to come out fast and establish a two-plus touchdown lead to put this one away early. The Browns defense should struggle containing Eli Manning, even with a makeshift receiving core. This could be the week where the defensive front breaks out against rookie Brandon Weeden. Score prediction: Giants 30, Browns 10

If the Giants lose to the Browns today, it will be an apropos stamp on this roller coaster ride that Tom Coughlin and crew have taken us on. With all the injuries to key players right now, the Giants might have a tough time beating Rutgers. Truth be told, they still have a deep enough roster to beat the Browns, who are starting a rookie at QB. No rookie passer is ready for the Giants’ pass rush. Plus, Eli can pass on any team in this league regardless of who he has going out for passes. Giants 31, Browns 13
