While is the season is far from over, the reality is that it is highly unlikely the Giants make the playoffs. This has nothing to do with giving up. It only has to do with personnel on this Giants roster.
We can point out the injuries, the underachieving players and the absolutely atrocious play calling; however, can someone please stand up and discuss the 800 pound gorilla in the room.
General Manager Jerry Reese has mismanaged this team for the past 10 months. While it’s possible the head of scouting Marc Ross was up for an executive job and took his eye off the ball this is still Jerry Reese team. He gets paid a lot of money to make the right moves.
Yes, two Super Bowls, the fans remember and they are forever thankful, but that does not mean the standard for New York Giants football has to slip to the level of embarrassing.
And yet the Giant fans are patient because they know you can’t win every year but the way this season has unfolded has been unbearable.
More Reese’s Pieces: This past off season started off with the Giants over paying tackle Will Beatty. Does this guy really deserve 38 million dollars? The answer is NO.
While the back side protector deserves to get paid, the Giants over paid the guy by 7 million dollars and to make matters worse they fully guaranteed his first two years. The deal’s annual average is $7.5 million.
Tight End: Does anyone miss tight end Martellus Bennett? Jay Cutler is making a star out him in Chicago. The former NY Giant Tight End already has 135 yards and 3 touchdowns. New Giants Tight End Brandon Myers only had 4 touchdowns all of last season.
His yardage (175 yards) has come in “junk time” , half his receptions are in the 4th quarter as the clock was winding down and let’s not forget how he fell down in the open field last week instead of scoring.
Running Back: Bradshaw! The off season was filled with excuses why the Giants did not sign Ahmad Bradshaw. No. 44 just ripped off 95 yards and a touchdown for the Colts against a very good San Francisco defense. He averaged 5 yards a carry and he can block.
The Giants put all their eggs in one basket with Andre Brown. He has been injured his entire a career.
Jake Ballard – Why have the Giants not resigned him? He can block and helped them win a Super Bowl.
Domenik Hixon – signed with Carolina for 1.2 million to sit the bench. Hixon does not fumble and he is great special return man. Jernigan and Murphy have done nothing.
Chase Blackburn – Blackburn signed a two year deal for 2.1 million with Carolina. The Giants were only willing to resign him for the minimum. So they lost the heart of that defense for $300,000. It’s petty!
Ross…really? Rivers…never makes a big time play and is blown off the ball. Bass…well that guy just stinks.
