Minicamp Quotebook: Wilson, Pugh, Andre Brown

Day 2 of Giants’ minicamp and several players made themselves available for the media pool.

RB David Wilson has been working on his pass protection:

“I didn’t have many opportunities last year, to show that capability due to my reps. That is definitely an area that I need to show the coaches I can handle. That’s and area a running back in the NFL definitely needs to handle. I’m doing all the right things to take steps towards that and be ready for the season.”

RB Andre Brown is suddenly the dean of the Giants’ backfield:

“Being around Ahmad (Bradshaw) and Brandon (Jacobs) early in my career has made me more of a vocal leader. Those guys did most of the talking leadership-wise and carried the leadership of the room. I’m the oldest guy in the room now, and it’s like “I got to be become more of a vocal leader’ and make sure the young boys know…that  Michael (Cox) knows the plays and the protection. I go over with them and make sure he knows the steps and stuff like that. I guess I’m finally matured enough that I can step into that role and be a very effective leader.”

OL Justin Pugh is ready for whatever the Giants throw at him:

“Right now I’m at right tackle, but I know I’m going to be moving around. I’ll be playing a little left side during camp, so I’m getting ready for that. That’s something I came in knowing, that I will be playing multiple positions.  I played LT my whole career, so it’s good I’m playing on the right side now so I can get comfortable on both sides.”

DL Markus Kuhn is on his way back from ACL surgery that cut his rookie season short in 2012. He’s not participating in the scrimmages, but his goal is to be ready for training camp:

“I’m a little more than six months in right now. I’ve been here all the time working with the trainers in the weight room with the strength and conditioning staff…just getting better. I’m out there on the filled right now going through different drills. I’m not doing any contact with other guys. I’m just doing what I can and taking it day-by-day.”
