Giants stay out of last place with 24-17 win over Skins

Early in the first quarter, it certainly looked as if the Giants were going to mail whatever chances they had left of salvaging their season.

But they didn’t. Pride, and the Redskins’ sour play, would not permit a Giants’ nosedive.

Instead, it was the Redskins who faltered. The Giant defense began to flummox and punish Washington QB RGIII, while the offense made just enough plays to lift them from a 14-0 hole to secure a 24-17 win tonight at FedEx Field.

With the win, the Giants (5-7) avoided falling into last place in the NFC East, a distinction that continues to belong to the Redskins (3-9). The Giants will enter Week 14 two full games behind Dallas and Philadelphia, who are both 7-5. The Giants are still alive for a playoff spot.

Some quick stats…

Eli Manning was 22/28 for 235 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.

RB Andre Brown scored two TDs.

Victor Cruz had six receptions for 80 yards.

On defense, Jon Beason had 13 tackles.

Justin Tuck recorded four sacks and Will Hill stripped Redskins’ WR Pierre Garcon to seal the game in the final minute.
