Good news for Giant fans who were worried if Hakeem Nicks would a) show up for training camp and b) be ready for the upcoming season.
The answer to both questions is yes. Nicks has been working out on the side with Eli and plans to ramp it up as training camp nears.
From Ebenezer Samuel of the Daily News:
“We’ve hooked up twice already this week,” Nicks said Thursday during his Verizon Hakeem Nicks Football Camp for youngsters in Englewood, N.J. “We’re gonna do it two, three more times before camp starts.”
Nicks in entering the final year of his rookie contract and needs to sing for his supper this season, so to speak. He must perform at the level expected of a No.1 receiver in order to garner big bucks from Big Blue before next March.
What we’ll never know is why he stayed away from voluntary OTAs, but it’s assumed he skipped that portion of the offseason workouts to avoid injury. Nicks broke his foot last March at OTAs and his season was, in effect, shot.

Wilson has a highly explosive first step, and runs with velocity both between the tackles and in high-traffic perimeter areas. He is vertically and laterally dangerous, possessing natural elusiveness, an outstanding ability to beat first contact, and breakaway long speed. Wilson measured only 5-foot-9 5/8 and 206 pounds at the Combine, but flashes genuine power. Wilson has a powerful lower body and can run with leg drive. He is capable of moving a pile. Wilson plays fast and physical and is an extremely competitive back. (Read full article)
