The Giants knew they were taking a huge chance when they signed beleaguered safety Will Hill in May of 2012. The West Orange native out of Urban Meyer’s Florida program has displayed a world of talent on the field but encountered a world of trouble off it.
Since making the team in September of 2012, Hill has been slapped with two separate four game suspensions by the NFL for violating their substance abuse policy. Getting caught a third time would not be a charm for Hill or the Giants….From Rotoworld:
Hill was arrested on December 20 on a warrant related to being more than $9,000 behind on child support. The Newark-Star Ledger was recently informed that officers detected a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle Hill was driving. Hill has served two separate four-game suspensions since he entered the league. The next, we believe, would be an eight-game ban. Some believe the Giants could release Hill, even after he had a breakout season in 2013.
That would be a shame. Hill has turned into one of the Giants’ most productive players as well as one of the league’s best DBs an ST players. But …..the Giants would have little choice but to part ways with Hill should he get sacked for eight games in the upcoming season.
The Giants cannot be expected to carry Hill, or any other player, who cannot stay within the rules. It is frustrating, but he leaves them no choice. Just another thing that has gone wrong for Big Blue of late.
They may just decide to bring back Stevie Brown, who missed all of this season with a knee injury.
