Tom Hopes Cruz Will Stay a Giant With a Long-Term Deal

Tom Coughlin is beginning his book signing tour today and as part of his message in Earn the Right to Win is to gain as much control over your destiny as possible. In this day and age in sports (or any field), that’s asking a lot.

When it comes to retaining your core players such as WR Victor Cruz, even Coughlin has to concede that the task is a difficult one, even for an organization as focused as the Giants.

From Jenny Vrentas of the Star Ledger:

“I like to think that I can control everything, and that I can have something to do with making sure that something gets done that I think would be beneficial to everyone,” Coughlin said today, before a book signing at the Fifth Avenue Barnes and Noble. “And certainly I believe that about Victor. We want Victor to be a Giant until the end of his career, but obviously he and his people, his agents, they’ve got to make that call. It’s a little bit frustrating in that you’d like to have it done, that’s all.”

The coach would love to have the local product locked up, but as we keep telling you, NFLers really only get a shot at the big money once in their careers and Cruz’ reps will be looking to cash in. Last month CEO John Mara indicated the two sides were far apart. Negotiations will be ongoing until further notice.

The other thing to keep in mind is the Giants don’t have to do anything right now except place a first-round tender on Cruz and fend off all comers. Easily said…..

It really blows that Capuano has to do those interviews while Wang and Snow have been in hiding. It is mind boggling how these two classless and inept horses asses operate.

Who would have thought it, they are having trouble selling tickets for the Isles/rangers outdoor game so you get a $50 gift card when you buy tickets for the game. The Isles are hitting the NHL where it hurts in the pocket.

109 goals allowed, worst in the league.

It's gonna get worse tomorrow. Could be a 7-0 win for San Jose.

wang has bigger problems to worry about, from TSN:

According to TSN Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger, the cap is expected to rise to $71.1 million for the 2014-15 season according to a projection that was presented at the NHL's Board of Governors meeting in Pebble Beach, California.

Teams must currently hit a minimum salary cap obligation of $44 million, based on average annual salary over the length of a player's contract. The cap floor is expected to rise to roughly $52 million.

Cappy has gotta go for no other reason to prove that there is some semblance of reality!

And the most remarkable part of all this is that there will be no changes

Newsflash he's not selling the club!! Al Davis held on to the raiders until he was senile and let the team deteriorate!!

It was pretty dumb of the league to give the rangers 2 outdoor games within a week, to be fair that's asking their fans to shell out a lot of cash. It was also pretty dumb of the league to include the Isles in a outdoor game not knowing that last season was a fluke and that they are really not that good.

It's going to be interesting what kind of scheme wang/snow come up with to reach the floor

@vegasvlo @Darren Ingersoll He needs a couple seasons in the minors and to be completely healthy. That woulda been the case if the Isles has signed or acquired a goalie when Nabby got hurt, but no too easy.

Right but he also destroyed what he built by being a stubborn jackass!!
