Saturday News and Tidbits: Cruz’ rehab going well

Some tidbits you may have missed….

WR Victor Cruz appeared on FOX Sports’ Peter Schrager’s podcast this week, revealing his surgically-repaired knee is coming along swimmingly…

“I feel great. Rehab is going extremely well. The knee is responding beautifully. Now it’s just strengthening the knee and getting it back to form 100 percent and getting back to the Victor Cruz that everybody is familiar with.”

As we projected, the Giants will likely bring back TE Bear Pascoe, a versatile, team player who has done everything the organization has asked of him…

From Rotoworld: The Newark Star-Ledger expects the Giants to re-sign free agent TE Bear Pascoe…..A blocking specialist, Pascoe saw extensive playing time in two tight-end sets and will likely be brought back to compete for an H-back role under new OC Ben McAdoo. The Star-Ledger believes a two-year, $1.8 million deal could make sense for both sides.

Eli Manning will miss his close friend and teammate David Diehl, who developed a bond early on on their careers. From Michael Eisen of Giants.com:

In 2004 – when Manning was a rookie and Diehl was an NFL sophomore – the young quarterback rode in Diehl’s car to Giants Stadium, beginning a ritual that lasted for 10 years.

“It just kind of started,” Manning said. “I think my first games at times my girlfriend – now my wife (Abby) – she was coming up to the game and so I wanted to leave her a car so she could drive to the stadium. I got to the hotel and I kind of said that I needed a ride to the stadium on game day. Diehl’s the kind of guy who has been a friend, has been one of my close friends from the get-go, so I asked him for a ride and we just kind of kept the tradition going. Then we did it every week and it was kind of known that that was the plan.”

Let me get this straight. Eli Manning was the NFL’s top draft pick in 2004, yet he only owned one car in his rookie year? That is what we call Eli being Eli. Keeping things simple….He has been shucking Toyotas for years so I assume he’s gotten a second car by now…
