Rookie camp came to an end with the Giants making several roster moves. Added were LB Aaron Curry, DT Frank Okam, TE Michael Palmer, WR Jeremy Horne, DB John Stevenson and CB Junior Mertile.
Curry is the team’s newest reclamation project, a “low-risk” move the team hopes will reap major benefits. He will be tried at all three LB positions in camp.
The 27 year-old Okam was a former fifth round selection of the Texans, who has also spent time in Tampa. He is a long shot to make the roster.
Palmer was cited yesterday by OC Kevin Gilbride for making several fine catches, but he was predominantly a blocking TE during his three seasons in Atlanta. Not sure where he fits, but he will be in camp this summer.
Horne is another UMass prospect WR the Giants will give a try. Mertile and Stevenson were also rookie tryout players that stood out the past two days.
Waived were: WR Marcus Davis, K Jake Rogers, LB Charles Dieseul, OL Levy Adcock, DB Buddy Jackson and DT Bobby Skinner.
Davis and Dieseul were UDFAs signed after the draft. Disappointing weekend for both, who figured to at least make it to camp.
Rogers was signed to a futures deal in January along with Adcock, Jackson and Skinner. None figured to make the team’s final 53-man roster.
