Today in Giants’ History: Wide Right

It was 22 years ago today that the Giants won their second Super Bowl under Bill Parcells. The Giants came into Super Bowl XXV seven point underdogs to Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills at the “Big Sombrero” in Tampa.

With the country gearing up for the first Gulf War and American flags seemingly flying everywhere, Whitney Houston transcended the moment with a soaring rendition of the National Anthem. The game did not disappoint and is still the closest game in the history of the Super Bowl.

The Giants won, 20-19, as Buffalo kicker Scott Norwood’s 47-yard FG attempt sailed wide right in the final seconds.
