This is why he's a terrible coach. How do you expect players not to panic if every time someone has a bad period he starts shuffling lines. It's 1 bad game. Let them develop more chemistry. Can't stand when he done this.

How short of  a leash does Cappy get?

Glad to see they aren't going to just sit back and do nothing. Things have changed this year. Very goid to see. There is a short leash and everyone knows it.

Lee, Nelson and Strome is a line i suggested last year. The "Kid Line". That line could be very dangerous. Size and a lot of skill.

@StapeNewsday: Lee-Nelson-Strome, Kulemin-Nielsen-Bailey. Other lines same at AM skate. D pairs in flux with Hamonic not on ice. #Isles

relax people, boulton is not playing.  this was practice lines with lee coming in.  art staple said the lines will be...

lee brock strome

kulemin nielsen bailey

so i assume the first and fourth lines will remain the same....no boulton

If we keep losing face offs in our own end ,its not going to be pretty.Gotta get some secondary scoring tonight.

Why is Boulton even mentioned anymore?  I thought we had depth this year!

A win tonight could restore a little bit of the lost faith from Tuesday's stinker.

They lose tonight, Cappy's day's are numbered

@gottem13x He should have a short leash, but in reality, by the time they decide to fire him (if things went poorly again) the season would be lost.  I don't want to think about that yet.  Beat Boston.

@gottem13x

If they lose next 2 games,  he would have to go before it snowballs.  They can't let go until there's no point of return. Marc Crawford!!!! The only games they outplayed the other team from beginning to end is against SJ

@redly He looked hurt on Tuesday. Surprised he played in the first place.

@mrcisback You did, many agreed. We should be honorary coaches......

I think I want a Vet on that line.  That's why Grabo was so good on that line, IMO.

Lee's game is some what limited right now and one way to keep Lee's "200 ft" game from being exposed much is to have him sitting in front of the Bruins net while JT and KO control the puck.  Of course Lee can only get better getting some experience with JT.  That's when Nelson really turned the corner last yr.

Love that mrc. Great line. This will be goid glad we are not fooling around this year. We are going to make it wirk this year

@slapshot18_rs   So when Boston starts taking liberties with JT, who's going to step up?  You Lieutenant Conacher?

since72
since72

@truth77 Losing face offs and then not being able to clear the zone when we have the chance.  I mean seriously, just get it out to center ice and re group!

@rc91li    I would think that Boulton is skating for a reason.  Boulton is on the team just for a game like tonight.  Boston loves to intimidate, so maybe they will think twice if Boulton is out there.  If Boulton doesn't play tonight, one has to wonder why Skille was let go in liu of Boulton.

For tonight, start Lee on the 1st, move Kuleman or Bailey up to the 2nd, and Conacher to the 3rd.  Leave the 4th alone.

Don22
Don22

@rc91li He is depth.  Toughness depth that you bring out every once and a while against teams like Boston.  And think about it - last year in a limited role, did he really do anything to cost games?  Not really.

Don't worry.  He 1 game and done usually.

rc91li
rc91li

@cournoyer I wish I could believe that.  Cappy sounds like Omar Minaya telling us that our eyes are not seeing what his eyes are.

Don22
Don22

@willymayshays @mrcisback I agree too.  I think the Grabbo, Nelson, Strome line had been the best overall line until Grabo got hurt.

I had questioned Lee being able to handle defensive things on the first line, but I guess Vanek and MM weren't defensive either, so what is the difference?  I'd just be afraid that they can get outworked in the neutral and defensive zones which makes it harder for them to score.  Regardless, it';s time to move Conacher off that line.

@since72 @slapshot18_rs Who do you suggest to put on that line to protect JT? The only players that can stand up to Lucic and company are Martin and maybe clutterbuck. Would you put them on the first line? I do agree Conacher doesn't belong on that line. I know nobody agrees with this but, I would but Bailey on that line just to try it out. He played good in the playoffs on that line. Bailey has the skills just not  the confidence..playing with Tavares could be a booster.

slapshot18_rs
slapshot18_rs

@since72 i didn't make the lines...

i want someone else on the fist line other than conacher

Don22
Don22

@since72 @rc91li You hit it right on the head 72.  RC - you mentioned that he is a one dimensional player who is there in case Martin or Clutter go down.  As I said in my reply earlier, he has nothing to do with anyone getting hurt.  If someone gets hurt, there is another callup from AHL.  Boulton will not step into this lineup regularly.  And to say that Clutter and Martin are one dimensional isn't giving them enough credit.  I'm not the biggest fan of Martin, but they have a very important role on this team.  I will even argue that the line of Martin, CZ and McDonald were a big reason why the Isles surged to the playoffs 2 years ago.  They were great on the forecheck and were a relentless pain in the butt for other teams.

Nobody should worry about Boulton being on the roster or in games. He is never going to get a regular turn playing.

shlo
shlo

@since72 @rc91li He is there for someone like Lucic. If you can take Lucic out for 5 min. you earned your keep.

rc91li
rc91li

@Don22  He is depth if a guy like Clutterbuck or Martin goes down and you need a 4th line one-dimensional player (a dying breed in this league).  Boulton does nothing but fight and he's a career minus player....a lukewarm body.

shlo
shlo

@gottem13x @shlo for the time being. He is 4 and 2, you don't fire a coach with such record.  If  we lose 5 or 6 in a row he is gone. (I hope)

@redly  I was at the game on Tue. He did not look good at all. Not surprised he stayed home.

since72
since72

@slapshot18_rs   Yeah they really gotta get him off the first line unless he starts producing pronto.  Almost negates what they can do because he simply hasn't been able to finish.

We need guys like Boulton and Martin, this team nees this team needs a spark and some toughness.  This is the NHL not Earopean hockey.  Should have played him agaist Pens too.

Don22
Don22

@rc91li @Don22 He's not a depth guy in case Martin or Clutter go down.  If one of those guys goes down for a extended period, you will see a call up from BP like Persson or Sundstrom.  He's there for occasional  toughness and isn't totally out of place there.  In limited time last season, he was an even +/- while being able to add some toughness against bigger teams.  Can't ask more than that.  Of course the more he plays the more he you see his deficiencies.  But in his limited role he's fine.

gottem13x
gottem13x

@shlo @gottem13x No I am not saying right away, I was just asking... 20 game 30 game? Snow for once made moves to make this team competitive, Its now up to Cappy.

gottem13x

@shlo @redly He didn't look good going to the dressing room in Pitt. And then boom was back on the ice.

slapshot18_rs
slapshot18_rs

@since72 @slapshot18_rs i understand the idea of balancing the lines, in theory - however conacher doesnt seem to fit there, but is a very good fit on the third line. i want the top line to be dominant.

gottem13x
gottem13x

@shlo @gottem13x @redly gotta love it, it's a long season and we are going to need him. Lubo coming back tonight, makes me feel a little better.
