The Pro Bowl has been a joke for years and this week the players vowed to ratchet up the intensity to win back fans and restore some legitimacy to the event.
he NFC did their part. The AFC, not so much. The Nationals took heed to Peyton Manning’s comments that the game should be taken more seriously. They walloped the Americans, 62-35, behind their two Super Bowl MVP QBs (Drew Brees and Eli Manning), superstar RB Adrian Peterson and rookie QB sensation Russell Wilson.
“It was a little more high intensity than in years’ past,” said the Giants’ Victor Cruz, as per NFL.com. “It really did feel like a real game out there. People were hitting. It wasn’t touch football; guys were laying some licks. It had the energy of a real game. My body feels like it just went through a real game.”
Eli threw the most passes for the NFC (16/23, 191 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT) and Cruz led the Nationals with 10 receptions for 96 yards and a TD. Wilson tossed three TDs. Tampa Bay WR Vincent Jackson had 2 TD receptions.
Minnesota TE Kyle Rudolph (5 rec, 122 yds, 1 TD) was named the games’s MVP.
