With Mike Wallace surely to be signed by either Miami or perhaps Minnesota in the next few hours, the Steelers are already looking to replenish their receiving corp with a familiar name….
The Steelers plan to sign WR Plaxico Burress to a 1yr, vet min deal in the coming days, according to league source.—

Burress began his NFL career with Pittsburgh as their first round draft pick in 2000 out of Michigan State. After four productive years for the Steelers, he left to sign a six year, $25 million deal with the Giants in 2005 that was extended in 2008 (five years, $35 mil).
Plaxico had three solid seasons with the Giants, highlighted by his game-winning grab in Super Bowl XLII, but his career was derailed by his now famous self-inflicted gunshot incident in November of 2008.
Burress served two years in prison on a gun charge beginning in 2009. He was signed by the Jets after his release in 2011 and, even though he had 8 TDs, was not brought back by the Jets for a second season. Plaxico was re-signed by Pittsburgh last November and played in three games, catching three passes for 42 yards.
