This would take at least one hard decision out of the Giants’ hands if he is hired away.
Doubtful he’ll be hired though. Fewell has been interviewed for head coaching spots before and the rumblings were he was used several times to placate the league’s Rooney rule, which mandates that at least one minority candidate be interviewed for all head coaching openings.
From Rich Tandler of CSN Washington:
(Fewell’s) only experience as a head coach was a seven-game stint as the Bills’ interim coach in 2009. The team went 3-4 in that time.
He was under consideration for the permanent job in Buffalo but he didn’t get it and moved to the Giants as the defensive coordinator. He had four head coaching interviews after leading the Giants’ seventh-ranked unit in 2010 but he hasn’t had one since.
Fewell joins a growing list of potential candidates for the Redskins job. According to media reports they have either talked to or plan to talk to offensive coordinators Darrell Bevell (Seahawks) and Jim Caldwell (Ravens) and Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.
