NFL Head Coaching Carousel Complete

Bruce Arians, the Colts’ OC/interim head coach this season inked a deal with the Arizona Cardinals completing this year’s NFL coaching carousel. A total of eight teams made changes at the top this offseason, exactly 25% of the league.

Here’s the scorecard:

Arizona…………………..IN: Bruce Arians OUT: Ken Whisenhunt

Buffalo……………………IN: Doug Marrone OUT: Chan Gailey

Chicago………………….IN: Marc Trestman OUT: Lovie Smith

Cleveland………………..IN: Rob Chudzinski OUT: Pat Shurmur

Jacksonville…………….IN: Gus Bradley OUT: Mike Mularkey

Kansas City……………..IN: Andy Reid OUT: Romeo Crennel

Philadelphia……………IN: Chip Kelly OUT: Andy Reid

San Diego……………….IN: Mike McCoy OUT: Norv Turner

In Arizona, Arians has not named an OC, but former Eagles’ DC Todd Bowles is in line for the DC job.

In Buffalo, former Jets DC Mike Pettine assumes the same position with the Bills. Nathaniel Hackett is the OC.

In Chicago, Trestman replaced OC Mike Tice with Aaron Kromer. DC Rod Marinelli, who was a close confidant of Lovie Smith, decided not to accept Trestman’s offer to stay.

In Cleveland, Chudzinski hired his former boss, Norv Turner, to run the offense. The Browns are still searching for a DC.

In Jacksonville, Bradley was just hired this week and they are still making decisions on coordinators.

In Kansas City, Reid hired former Eagle assistant Doug Pederson as OC and former Jet assistant Bob Sutton to run the defense.

The Eagles just came to terms with Kelly, so they are in the process of filling the coordinator vacancies.

In San Diego, McCoy hired Whisenhunt to run the offense. On defense, John Pagano (brother of Chuck) is still penciled in as the coordinator.
