Offensive line is a high priority for the Giants this offseason. They are in need a young stud, especially at tackle, to come right in and start pankaking people. The buzz is that Alabama’s D.J. Fluker could be a possibility for the Blue in the first round….from Rotoworld:
According to SI’s Tony Pauline, teams are “falling in love” with Alabama OT D.J. Fluker, and “some in (the) scouting community” believe he could go as high as No. 19 to the Giants.
Pauline also floats the Bengals at No. 21 as a possibility. An imposing 6-foot-4, 355 pounds with impressive athleticism and long arms, Fluker has first-round size and ability, but is viewed as a future right tackle. That means he’s not a lock to hear his name called on day one. He’d almost certainly be among the first few picks if he fell to day two, however. Feb. 5 – 8:46 pm et Source: Tony Pauline on Twitter
Fluker, who graduated in December, still had one year of eligibility at Bama but chose to enter the NFL Draft instead. He did not play in the Senior Bowl due to a calf injury but impressed onlookers just by attending...from Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk:
In the case of Alabama offensive tackle D.J. Fluker, it turns out that the man is absolutely enormous. When Alabama coach Nick Saban said two months ago that Fluker was turning pro, I wrote, “The 6-foot-6, 335-pound Fluker looks like he’s ready to step onto an NFL field right now.” In reality, Fluker actually measured in at an inch shorter than that, and weighed in at 355 pounds.
But what’s most amazing about Fluker is that he carries 355 pounds well. Josh Norris of Rotoworld is on the scene at the Senior Bowl and reports that Fluker looks great. Fluker also has the longest arms of anyone there, which some scouts view as a big plus in pass blocking.
