Wednesday Morning Update: Cruz Sets Sights on Opener

Giants WR Victor Cruz (heel) is feeling better and out of his walking boot. He feels he will be heading back to the practice field as soon as Monday.

“In my mind, that’s a date that I’m targeting so I’m going to work diligently this week while the team’s away and focus on getting myself ready and ready to practice potentially by next week,” Cruz said yesterday.

Asked if he would be ready for the season opener Sept 8 in Dallas, the Giants’ star believes he is on target.

“Absolutely. I think that’s definitely a target date for me. I think I want to come out and get some regular practice in as well once the doctors let me and the training staff lets me do so. Just taking it one day at a time.”

GEICO SportsNite speaks with Victor Cruz who is no longer wearing a protective boot and says he will be able to play in the Giants’ opener.

Could you imagine Bergeron and Tavares on our first line.  There would be magic like that every night.  Just Awesome!

@erika

Erika, yeah he got 4, and I thought for certain he would get the MVP of the game but they gave it to the local guy Johannsen [sp] who plays for Columbus, he had 2 goals, and 2 assists, it was a homer call IMO
