Victor Cruz addressed the media on Tuesday on crutches and wearing a walking boot on his left foot.
Cruz won’t play until September 8, according to Art Stapleton, though he will likely practice that week – if not sooner.
Cruz left the Giants’ second preseason game with what the team diagnosed as a bruised heel.
He said he is taking it day by day and he is “feeling better,” but his foot is swollen. Cruz also said there is “some blood” in his heel, but no tear:
“The MRI just showed some blood in there, in the area where the swelling is and that was about it. They were just showing the inflammation and the blood….No tear, nothing wrong with the bone. Everything’s fine, which was a good sign, which was what I was worried about. Even though I didn’t hear anything pop, but you just never know with any injuries. I was happy about that. I’m just on the road to recovery.”
When asked if he will play in Week 1 against the Cowboys, Cruz said,” I hope so… that’s what I do envision, yes.”
