Tampa wants to talk to Giants’ draft guru Marc Ross

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers want to speak to Marc Ross, the Giants’ college draft guru, for their general manager position. The Giants have subsequently granted the Bucs permission to meet with Ross.

8:18pm: Add the Dolphins to the mix as well. They are in the market for a GM after parting ways with Jeff Ireland yesterday.

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

Ross’ official title with the Giants is VP of Player Evaluation. He was the Director of College Scouting prior to that, conducting his first draft in 2008.

Ross is responsible for bringing in players such as Jason Pierre-Paul, Hakeem Nicks, Justin Pugh, Terrell Thomas, Mario Manningham, Kenny Phillips, Will Beatty, Linval Joseph, David Wilson, Rueben Randle, Prince Amukamara, Jerrel Jernigan, James Brewer, Jon Hankins and Damontre Moore.

Ok..John that's great, now list the gas passers he's drafted the last 4 years. I like Marc Ross, but it's time for change all the way around...he is def expendable.   Lets jump right to Nassib... shall we?

I wouldn't want to see Ross leave because he is definitely the GM in waiting. Reese, in my opinion, is not on very solid ground. Ross has done a great job finding gems in the draft, especially in later rounds. Then again, Ross has definitely earned a chance to be a GM & if it isn't going to be here sometime soon, then he should take the shot somewhere else. The biggest issue I have right now is the search for an OC. I don't like how everyone is pushing for Mike Sullivan & making him the odds-on favorite. Since leaving the Giants, has he really done enough to warrant the job with the Giants? The Tampa Bay offense wasn't exactly great the past couple years under his watch. Tampa has some solid pieces on offense & if they don't produce, that falls on the play-caller. I certainly like the QB coach from Green Bay as an option. I also like Gary Kubiak & Norv Turner (who will be available after a new HC is in place in Cleveland). I think it's time for a new voice in the Giants' offense, not Gillbride 2.0. I may be in the minority, but I don't want to see another Bill Sheridan, nepotism hire. The Sheridan experiment was horrendous.

after drafting 2 syracuse players in the first 4 rounds i wonder how much tc has to do with making those decisions and not the player evaluations.

keeping tc happy (retirement decision) seems to be number 1 with the jints, so how deep does this go with tom terrific.

Marc Ross has A LOT of MISSes !!!!
