After missing practice for the majority of the week, New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is expected to play this afternoon against the New Orleans Saints
NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Jason La Confora both confirmed Nicks will play despite the questionable tag.
Nicks participated in practice Friday, but on a limited basis. He threw around with Eli Manning afterwards. Head coach Tom Coughlin cited Nicks’ absence early on in the week as precautionary.
Nicks’ sore knee is again the culprit. That knee, along with lingering issues from off-season foot surgery, kept the wide receiver out three weeks in September and October.
Upon his return Oct. 14 in San Francisco, Nicks went four consecutive weeks with fewer than 5 receptions or 53 yards and without a touchdown.
On Nov. 11 against Cincinnati, he hauled in 9 passes for 75 yards. Since then, he has enjoyed three straight contents with double-digit targets and has totaled 195 yards and a touchdown.
