As it turns out, it doesn’t matter who carries the ball for the Giants right now. No one seems to be going anywhere.
David Wilson carried the ball 7 times for 17 yards. Explosive, right? Well, he didn’t fumble so can’t complain about that…Brandon Jacobs had four yards on seven carries, but one was a TD. Da’Rel Scott had 2 yards on five carries but had a 23-yard TD reception at garbage time.
Tom Coughlin admitted they didn’t have much room to run today, a combination of the Giants’ offensive line being subpar and the Broncos’ defensive line being stout.
Rotoworld had this to say about Wilson…
He wasn’t targeted out of the backfield in the passing game. All three of Wilson, Brandon Jacobs, and Da’Rel Scott played a fair amount and each received seven touches. None of the three could get anything going on the ground as they mustered up just 23 yards on 19 carries. Wilson didn’t fumble at all, but he appeared to be sacrificing some yards in order to make sure he was wrapping the ball up. He was carrying the ball with both hands at all times, looking like he was protecting a newborn baby in the process. Wilson should get the start again next week against the Panthers. As long as he gets his fumbling issues fixed and lets the thought of losing the ball out of his cranium, his work should steadily increase. It’s blatantly clear he possesses the most natural talent in this backfield. Wilson will be a roll-of-the-dice RB2/flex play against Carolina’s stout front seven next week.
