Quote: Nicks on staying a Giant

“I don’t know what to expect right now. But we all know this is where I want to be.”

-Hakeem Nicks, on staying with the Giants (Hubbuch)

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

Well, that’s nice to know. We wish he would have shown a little bit more passion during the season to back that statement up. At this point, most fans could care less what he wants.

GM Jerry Reese said the Giants are willing to meet with Nicks this offseason, but also stated they would be open to meet with anyone requesting a meeting.

With zero TDs this season, Nicks is finally realizing his market value is plummeting by the second. The fact that he sat out the Dallas game – the game the Giants needed the most this season – has fans and pundits questioning his desire.

So, whatever he says at this point falls hollow to the Big Blue faithful.

Eli works better with younger guys with something to prove and I think Hakeem Nicks has become to complacent and there are to many other resigning's more important than the resigning of Nicks, times up on his Giant's career unless he takes a hometown discount.

this is going to be a very talented deep draft and many holes should be filled if the jints do their homework and prioritize bpa, thats bpa do you hear me fo.

I'd keep Hakeem for 2MM, with incentives.  Give him a  one year contract.  Let him prove what he's got.  He's been trending downward for the last few years.

Meanwhile, I'm eager to see how the other receivers progress.

John,

Are there any WR prospects you like in the up comining drat and do you think you would take one in the first over an Offensive Linemen?

At this point I like Mike Evans and if he is thereI think you take him over an Offensive linemen because he looks like a number 1 guy at 6"5 220 a very physical WRwith good hands.  As good as Randle and Jernigan may be they ar not drawing attention aay from Cruz.  Taking Evans would reload this offense and give Eli a huge target that can go get the ball.

Other then that I take the best tackle on the board and move either Beatty or Pugh inside.  I would then make Mack my FA priority to replace Baas.

Bye bye Hakeem...thanks for the memories but lets be honest, you had 2 great years and blew your chance at a huge payday the last 2. And by the way, Sammy Watkins will look real nice in your 88 jersey!! #mancrushingsammy

Maybe you should have fought for a few more passes this year then...

@jaymanjd Marqise Lee is there too, but I wouldn't take him over a quality lineman

@jaymanjdWatkins and Evans are the 2 wideouts that are generally regarded as having the requisite level of talent to justify a top 12 pick.  Whether or not they will be available at 12 is anyone's guess.

@Matthew Cohen @jaymanjd No shot they go WR at 12. Later on they could get Bryant from Clem (6-5), Coleman from Rut. (6-5), or Benjamin from FSU (6-4). Problem is these guys probably won't be around in the 3rd or later. Couple that with TC's stance on playing rookies and the Giants are probably going to rely more on Preston Parker than anybody drafted due to his "experience."

@Matthew Cohen @jaymanjd one of them will be gone. one thing you know with a draft is that at least one player everyone loved before takes a dive on draft day. this year it could be one of the qbs leaving one of them wide open for the picking.

i would LOVE for the giants to pick up either one. i'd want watkins but would be very happy with evans.

@billysuede @Matthew Cohen @jaymanjd  hey you know about Reeses best player available nonesense if Johnny Football is sitting at 12 do you take him Reese? not likely so the whole BPA nonse gets thrown out the window every year.
