Michael Vick returns for Giants-Eagles finale

After suffering a broken hand in Philadelphia’s Week 16 loss to Washington, Nick Foles has been ruled out of Sunday’s season finale against the Giants, head coach Andy Reid announced today.

In his place, Michael Vick will draw the start.

“He obviously deserves (an) opportunity to play,” Reid said of Vick at Monday’s press conferece. “He’s excited about it. … And ready to go.”

In his career, Vick is 8-6 against the Giants, completing 61 percent of his passes and a quarterback rating of 86.3.

Earlier this season, Vick led the Eagles to a 19-17 win over the Giants at Lincoln Financial Field, throwing for 241 yards and a touchdown in the process. He also gashed the G-Men for 49 yards on the ground.

It might be Vick’s last hurrah in the City of Brotherly Love, as rumors have surfaced the oft-injured quarterback could be in a different jersey come the start of the ’13 season. Perhaps this an opportunity to end 2012 on a high note in essentially a debut for his next suitor.
