Winning covers up all ills. Well, it redirects the conversation, anyway. The Giants won their first ballgame of the season after dropping the first six contests for their worst start in 37 years.
I like the fact that the Giants defeated the Vikings, who played as poorly as a team could play last night. Minnesota’s offensive line and secondary are just plain bad. The Giants exploited them to the best of their ability. Minnesota QB, Josh Freeman’s performance rolled back the criticism of Bucs’ coach Greg Schiano. Granted, Freeman is new to the offense, but he was just god-awful throwing the ball last night. Hey, the Giants had to win a game somewhere along the line. If they had lost this one….
I don’t like the fact that the Giants aren’t giving the young guys more of a chance to play. They adore Justin Pugh, and are being forced to use Michael Cox, but what about Damontre Moore, Jon Hankins and Cooper Taylor? Moore had 14 snaps and the other two didn’t dress last night.
I liked what I saw out of Jason Pierre-Paul and Justin Tuck last night. They seem to have some hop in their step again.
I don’t like the fact that David Baas is hurt again.
I like Peyton Hillis’ toughness. Jon Conner’s and Jon Beason’s, too. Jerry Reese is going back over his mistakes and filling the holes on the roster with real football players.
I don’t like the way Eli Manning is throwing the football. Last night he made some poor decisions, but the Vikings could not take advantage. But he’s still taking too many risks….
I like the way Eli Manning is throwing the football. It would be nice if his receivers would stop dropping passes.
I like Terrell Thomas. He is an excellent football player. He’s not what he used to be, but he’s always around the ball.
I don’t like the way the Giants are covering punts. Somehow, I feel they wouldn’t be so bad on specials had they kept Kyle Bosworth.
