Following a successful surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back, defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was recently ranked by NFL.com among the league’s top 25 edge pass rushers heading into the 2013 season.
While Von Miller of the Denver Broncos claimed the highest ranking, Pierre-Paul rounded out the “best of the best” list at No. 7, finishing behind Aldon Smith of the San Francisco 49ers. Because the list did not include interior rushers, 4-3 defensive tackles like Geno Atkins of the Cincinnati Bengals and 3-4 defensive ends like J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans were left out.
According to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com, “JPP might have the highest ceiling of the whole group if he recovers well from back surgery and learns more veteran guile.”
Despite a statistically disappointing 2012 season, Pierre-Paul will look to bounce back in 2013 and once again be a strong force for the Giants on defense.
