Inside Justin Pugh’s Rookie Deal

Yesterday, Giants’ first round selection Justin Pugh put his name on the bottom of a four-year, $8,345,898 contract. Pugh was aiming for a fully-guaranteed deal, but settled for 95.4% instead.

The numbers as per spotrac.com:

Contract value: $8,345,898
Signing bonus: $4,449,744
Amt guaranteed: $7,960,128
Avg salary: $2,086,475

In lieu of a full guarantee, the remaining $385,770 is being presented as a 2016 roster bonus.

FYI….we will have the details of Ryan Nassib’s deal when they become available.

    Halak looks like his game is rounding into shape with only giving up 7 goals in his last 5 game. Now Johnson has to work on his game. He's been winning but he's been very shaky in most of his starts. He has to work on his rebounds in front of the net.

Dont want to be a part pooper but this team still needs too many overtimes and shootouts to close the deal. A win is a win, but they still miss playing 60 minutes too often. They are clearly a better team, no doubt. hopefully they win these games in regulation as the year goes on.

How many minutes did Pittsburgh play tonight... In your estimation? More than the islanders or less than the islanders?

@tonelli27 they also happen to be very good in the shootout which helps in the regular season, but not after that.  i'll take a tie in pittsburgh (if it was up to me i wouldn't have any ot).  but yes, they need to close out some games like the one in florida, for example.

@tonelli27 Your right T but if Halek was in net for the Islanders they probably win this game 4-2 and we aren't having this conversation.

@islesfan27 fleury had his own little spell in the first period.  it was an even game, overall.  islanders still need to get after the puck better in their own end.

@gleichzal2

every other shift i nthe OT was 87 and 71..that gives the pens a huge advantage.. but it seems Leddy and Boychuk are up to the task.

@gleich not over concerned but hopefully it will get better. No doubt this is a solid playoff team, it should be. A little better netminding and this team could be really good.

@tonelli27  He says it's 100% but maybe his offseason routine where he works out was messed up due to the injury so he may need a little more time.  Just my guess.

@rmbbanned2 @gleichzal2 to me the defenseman who separates opponents from the puck at crucial times is hamonic.  like the way he's playing, including getting down the ice quite a bit.  so far he's all-star quality.

@gleichzal2

Liked that Boychuk put a low hit on #71, after downie went low on him in the far corner.

oh i know.. you guys will post all night, like you probably have all game.

Did you hear- the pens fired their coach post game.

after giving up three goals in under 2 minutes, for not calling a time out, he was fired..
