Henry Hynoski to have surgery on Friday

Henry HynoskiHenry Hynoski will undergo surgery on Friday to repair an injured left knee, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.

Hynoski suffered a chip fracture to the lateral plateau and injured his left medial collateral ligament on the second play of Wednesday’s OTAs. The fracture to the lateral plateau is a bone chip in his tibia, the larger — and weightbearing — of the two leg bones.

Newsday’s Tom Rock said that MCL injuries are usually treated non surgically, so it’s likely that the surgery is to repair the fracture and not the ligament.

“I am going to set my mind to being ready for the first game of the  regular season,” Hynoski said to Giants.com. “They said that is not an unrealistic goal, and I will do everything in my power to be ready for the start of  the season.”

Dr. Russell Warren, team physician, will perform the surgery.

Tight end Bear Pascoe is the backup fullback in camp.

From Rotoworld: It’s actually a positive revelation for Hynoski. When he went down during Wednesday’s OTA session, it looked like could have blown out his ACL or patella. Instead, he will undergo surgery Friday and has a realistic shot at being back for Week 1. Hynoski graded out as Pro Football Focus’ fifth-best fullback in terms of blocking last season.

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

Pascoe is a versatile player, but the team may not feel he’s a viable full-time solution at FB. I think it’s a foregone conclusion they bring in a veteran just in case Hynoski cannot make it back for the start of season or has a setback. Pascoe is also the best blocking TE on the roster, so the Giants may not want to take off the line until either Brandon Myers and/or Adrien Robinson can be relied on to block.

Well personally I think she's worse than anyone before her...how uncomfortable did Fischler appear on TV with her...OMG here's a guy who knows everything about hockey with a kid who couldn't properly pronunciate some of the players names.  I'm sorry. would I'd love to give her a chance but she's already proved in pre-season that she's quite sophomoric...this on the job training just doesn't work at this level...time to send her home.

Ruttgaizer was horrible. It always seemed like he knew nothing about hockey and could care less about the Isles. Good Riddance.

Ruttgaizer should sue based on racial discrimination. There was nothing wrong with his egoless style and amiable demeanor.

Ruttgaizer was due to get the boot. He could barely get through the Pre-game and Post-game without stumbling. Welcome Shannon.

Hated when Peter Ruttgaizer would refer to Okposo as the "Nigerian Prince". Farewell!

Wouldn't mind having DP as the Isles host as long as the contract is reasonable.

Unless Sharon Gordon is a 6'5" 230lb defenseman...who cares.

There were three things that annoyed me about Ruttgaizer.  1) When giving the out of town scores, he always referred it as "from around the big league".  MLB is referred to as the big leagues...not the NHL...I've never heard anyone else call it that.  2) He could never pronounce Coyotes the way everyone else does, like the animal.  No, it was always KAI-otes...every time!  3) That horrendous green shirt!

I thought rutgazier was horrible. Rib carlin was awesome so was deb. This new girl is going to be awesome. Wow what happened to our team???? We are changing and I'm losing it

Did anyone happen to have on 1050 ESPN radio during the Mike Lupica 12 o'clock hour? He is on vacation and Alan Hahn was filling in for him which he has from time to time. What was weird was hearing his cohost ... Rick DiPietro. And you know what, Ricky was pretty good in that role.

While on the radio subject, XM had their team by team key players today on the Boomer/Laughlin show at 5 and they listed Halak as ours which probably isn't a surprise. What was is the fact they weren't especially high on his prospects. They basically pizzed on the blue line calling it "Hamonic and 5 guys" and it will still keep us in the also ran circles.

I still think there is a strong chance we make the playoffs, but that blue line is the one thing that can keep us out.

She's lovely.  I wish her well.

Now if we can just get someone to tell Butch to stop saying "he's playing extremely well" while the team is down by 3 goals.

Peter was about as bad as it gets. We stopped watching pregame as it was not only bad, but at times it was uncomfortable. He had no relationship with the players or coaches. Deb was great before she went to the Devils.

Anybody know what happened to Ruttgazer or why he left?

Is Stan Fishler not going to play a major role in our final Long Island season?

Another good move by the team. Wow has this been a great off season!!!!!!!!! Was never a fan of Peter. Thought he was never on board with the team. It was just a job to him. I've seen her before and she's good. This is going to be a exciting season. Bring it on

Beats MSG digging up Jim Gordon and Bill Chadwick or assigning a modern day homer like Al Trautwig.

Good. I don't think I could have taken another season of Peter saying home teams "play host" to the visiting teams every game again.

@Jason Zimmermann

Agreed, I am old school and do not cater to women doing interviews and such, to me it's still a man's job, the PC is turning this country into mush.

@Jason Zimmermann You mean Stan "Rangers will win the Cup this season" Fischler? No thanks! Besides he still does some reporting at Islanders games so not really much of a 'bring back'

@dimaio34  You thought Rob Carlin was awesome?  Seriously?  What the hell were you watching?  He was the worst I have ever seen. You must be Rob Carlin.

@dimaio34 I've heard DiPietro on ESPN radio 2 times in the last 3 weeks with Alan Hahn at night - around 8 pm.  He actually sounded very informed and polished taking calls on all subjects, Jets, Yankees, Mets etc.

@David Sisler have you seen her since she was relieved of duties as a token on the NHL network? - she looks like she has jaundice and ebola. i prefer her freaking out the losers on the Devils.

Dkdk. Ricky has actually been on a lot lately with Hahn and I agree he is pretty good. It does make sense; he's smart, well spoken, and can speak on a personal level about many aspects. From being a tremendous athlete, playing at a very high level, and of course having and dealing with all of the injuries.

Another one that drives me nuts is, 'he makes no mistake' isn't that like a double negative?

@Chris Molloy I know I didn't stop watching pregame, because Peter made me "uncomfortable".   I think that is a bit unfair to him.

But yes... He was definitely very scripted and seemingly disconnected.

I would have to say that Peter is living somewhere in the River City, aka Winnipeg Manitoba. Lol.

@csh205 Better watch out, Trautwig might call you up in the middle of the night to yell at you for writing nasty stuff about him on the internets.

Yeah I hadn't heard him before but agree with your sentiments. He always was a good interview especially when he started showing some humility. He speaks well, is bright, charismatic, etc so maybe this can become a gig for him.

@bammer26 @camb33 Let's be honest guys.  All color commentators and in-between-period people have rose colored glasses.  In fact, even most play by play.

Butch and co. seem almost neutral compared to some others out there.

Perhaps that was his real calling in life, instead of the one he chose, which caused him all those injuries.

@Don22- True Donnie Brasco. Just chomping at the bits to get the biscuit dropped already. Skated with some transplant Leaf fans earlier today, so "Let's go to the video tape" (Warner Wolf). Joe Bowen is one big homer, but also calls one heck of a game. One of my favorites..
