The Giants have signed OL John Jerry, the team announced.
Jerry started all 16 games over the last two seasons for the Dolphins. Jerry had been with Miami after they took him in the third round of the 2010 draft.
He’s played in 57 games over his career, starting 45 of them.

Although Jerry is versatile and has shown durability over the course of his career, he is not necessarily an upgrade over some of the incumbent guards on the Giants’ roster. Jordan Raanan of the Star-Ledger tweeted this just a few minutes ago….
And let us not for get that Jerry was in the thick of the Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin bullying case. From the the official “Ted Wells Report” submitted to the league last month:
Said Mr. Wells: “The Report concludes that three starters on the Dolphins offensive line, Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, engaged in a pattern of harassment directed at not only Jonathan Martin, but also another young Dolphins offensive lineman and an assistant trainer. The Report finds that the assistant trainer repeatedly was the object of racial slurs and other racially derogatory language; that the other offensive lineman was subjected to homophobic name-calling and improper physical touching; and that Martin was taunted on a persistent basis with sexually explicit remarks about his sister and his mother and at times ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments.”
I’m not sure why the Giants are bringing Jerry aboard, but knowing them, I’m certain they vetted him extensively before signing him. Jerry will learn immediately that East Rutherford is not Davie, FL. The Giants do not tolerate the type of behavior he engaged in with the Dolphins.
From Paul Schwartz of the NY Post:
Is he a projected starter or just a veteran being brought in in case Chris Snee breaks down again? Will he be a swing G/T, something the Giants need since Will Beatty is has not fully rehabbed from his broken leg? Could be both.
Probably. Being stigmatized as a result of the Miami affair, Jerry went unsigned for the first phase of free agency. The Giants look as if they swept in and grabbed him on the cheap. Another under-the-radar move by the Giants this offseason.
He will be lumped in with the rest of crowd trying to earn a roster spot this summer. It’s all about competition and Jerry should at least provide that.
