Giants, Reese get the memo

John Fennelly, Lead Writer

This offseason was about fixing the offense. Or so we thought. The Giants have done some things to improve on offense, but thus far Jerry Reese and Co. are beefing up their defense.

Today, with the addition of CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on a five year-deal, the Giants finally have a secondary to be reckoned with. They saw what a physical, dominating secondary can do for you in the NFL in 2014: win you a Super Bowl.

Better pass coverage leads to coverage sacks. It’s a fact. The Giants haven’t gotten a lot of those of late.

They have a complimentary mix now in their defensive backfield that gives them flexibility in the upcoming draft as well as on game day.

DRC joins Prince Amukamara, Trumaine McBride, Jayron Hosley and Walter Thurmond in a group of CBs as solid as any we’ve seen here in  recent years.

Throw in safeties Antrel Rolle, Will Hill, Stevie Brown, Quentin Demps and Cooper Taylor and one would think the Giants are set in the secondary going into the draft.

Very nice work by Reese so far.  Our secondary should be something to be reckoned with next season.

Looks like the jints are set at CB and the S positons. Now all we need is a TE, WR, and OL straightened out in the draft. The OL is the most important position to keep Eli from throwing to early or too late.

the up & down roller coaster ride some fans have is amazing considering how knowledgeable most jints fans usually are.

this rebuilding process is a marathon not a sprint so lets just calm down and not overreact one way or the other depending on the signing or cap hit.

reese obviously has a plan and that includes the draft,  be patient and wait until all the fa are signed and the draft is complete then we all can make a much more educated evaluation as to the success or failure of reese's plan.

Pretty sure that at least one of the following, if not all of them, will be available at #12 for the G-Men: Taylor Lewan, Eric Ebron, Mike Evans. Ebron would make the most sense because they don't have a reliable TE but who knows. I'd be happy with any of them.

@cole3244  How about waiting to see how they do on the field, and I'm not referring to mini-camp.

@Dave  Lewan would be the best fit there if he's there. He's a beast and can anchor the blind side for 10 years. I'm all for Ebron if lewan isn't there, but i think you can get WR/TE in 2nd/3rd rounds in this very deep athletic draft. Mammoth franchise LT's though are not common

@Matthew Smith @cole3244 EXACTLY.  People will try to judge the moves the Giants made 1 week in FA, then they'll try again after the draft.

But we really won't know until at least Mid-December.

REESE is Going in the RIGHT DIRECTION---

RIGHT NOW !!!!!!!!

Restructuring Bad Contracts,

and Par-Laying the Cap-Space,

into Quality F.A.'s in POSITIONs of NEED......

I'm 100% for that MANAGEMENT PLAN !!!
