John Fennelly, Lead WriterThis offseason was about fixing the offense. Or so we thought. The Giants have done some things to improve on offense, but thus far Jerry Reese and Co. are beefing up their defense.
Today, with the addition of CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on a five year-deal, the Giants finally have a secondary to be reckoned with. They saw what a physical, dominating secondary can do for you in the NFL in 2014: win you a Super Bowl.
Better pass coverage leads to coverage sacks. It’s a fact. The Giants haven’t gotten a lot of those of late.
They have a complimentary mix now in their defensive backfield that gives them flexibility in the upcoming draft as well as on game day.
DRC joins Prince Amukamara, Trumaine McBride, Jayron Hosley and Walter Thurmond in a group of CBs as solid as any we’ve seen here in recent years.
Throw in safeties Antrel Rolle, Will Hill, Stevie Brown, Quentin Demps and Cooper Taylor and one would think the Giants are set in the secondary going into the draft.
