Giants one of eight teams in line for HBO’s Hard Knocks

The Giants are one of eight teams that can be chosen to appear on HBO’s Hard Knocks this summer as per Pro Football Talk:

The Bills, Bears, Cardinals, Giants, Jaguars, Raiders, Rams, and Steelers can each be drafted to accept the assignment under rules that the NFL passed last year.

All others teams fall within one of the three exemptions: (1) teams that have appeared on Hard Knocks in the last 10 years; (2) teams with new head coaches; and (3) teams that have made the playoffs in either of the last two years.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell acknowledged that he has detected some resistance from teams.

One of those teams has been the Giants, who would prefer to keep the circus of additional television crews out of QDTC. John Mara doesn’t mind other teams mugging for the cameras, but when it comes to the Giants appearing on the series, he’s against it.

“That announcement will come,” Mara said in 2010, “when I’m next to my father in Gates of Heaven cemetery.”

Get the plot ready.

@JamesWS Personally I also want the Hard Knocks. I'm from Europe, I can't go to stadium and watch the matches, can't go to training camp etc. From Hard Knocks I can get a lot of stuff about the players personality and some funny moments. For me it would be great, but I also understand the team's view.
