Giants’ offense gift wraps a 23-0 win for Seahawks

If you want to know what the difference is between the top of the conference and the bottom, you need not look any further than today’s Giants-Seahawks game at MetLife.

The Giants’ misery vs contending teams continued today with a turnover-riddled, mistake-prone offense that gave fans little assurance for the future.

Eli Manning threw five more INTs in a game the Giants didn’t cross midfield until late in the second half.

The defense played admirably for much of the game but not even the greatest defenses in league history could have bolstered this pathetic offensive performance.

The Giants vowed to finish this season strong, but that doesn’t appear likely right now. Eli is in the high weeds and Victor Cruz May get shut down after suffering a concussion and a knee sprain.

Tom Coughlin called the offense “pathetic” after the game. He said he congratulated the players that gave their all and added he felt “sorry” for the ones that didn’t.

“They’re missing the point,” he said.

Eli trying to force things all season. Everyone is responsible for the Giants horrible season but it began with Reese handing Coughlin and Eli a gimpy undermanned OL.  We all knew that Bass and Snee were on the verge of retirement and it didn't take long for them to get there.  Sure Pugh is going to be OK but we all could see the OL needed one or two big experienced aces there.

Maybe next year when Reese rebuilds the OL and JPP returns to health will the Giants have a chance to do anything.

On the "didn't go as planned side", nobody knew the Giants DL would be so mediocre and that David Wilson would suck then be injured maybe forever.  Ditto the injury to Andre Brown.

Some years are just gonna be stinkers and that's what we got on our hands in 2013, no question.

Wow.  Stark contrast between haves and have nots.  Is it really ok to not question Eli as the long term QB of this team?

This franchise cannot continue to ride 2 SB wins as evidence of a model franchise.  There is no unit on this team that is acceptable at this point.

@rico Its true. No one could predict the Giants RB situation being so bleak.  I thought Wilson and Brown was going to bring us back to the Thunder and Lightning days.  So much for that...

But the OL being terrible is on Reese.  A true disaster. I'm a big fan of Jerry - but if he doesn't get the line and LB corps in order next season, he needs to be gone. There is no excuse for having such a terrible OL and LB corps. Especially because there is no other position that we are stacked at.  Where is all of our cap space going? Eli, Snee, Baas, Corey Webster, Will Beatty? REALLY?

@hashburry If the Giants can draft a GOOD QB they should consider it.

But any QB would be bad with this OLine.  I'd draft another couple of Offensive linemen.

@hashburry True but its not like Eli has Pro bowl athletes on the team helping him out. The Roster has to be dealt with ASAP

@McGeorge @hashburry I'm starting to come around to the idea that maybe, just maybe, its not Eli's fault. Reese needs to rebuild this line next year (Eli's last with big guaranteed money).  If Eli and the O-line can't get it together, I think we need to scrap Eli and start over.  He'll be 34 at the end of next season anyway.

@McGeorge @hashburry I agree that the O-line is a huge problem, but Eli is a never ending roller coaster, and isn't talented enough to overcome Reese's inexcusable inability to rebuild the line.
