Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul and wide receiver Victor Cruz were the first two Giants to be named to NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2013.
JPP takes home the 55 spot despite what many consider a down year for the pass rusher.
In 2011, Pierre-Paul recorded 17 sacks, but last year managed a mere seven and generated less overall pressure.
Cruz, Eli Manning’s go-to receiver in 2012, landed at No. 58. With Hakeem Nicks battling injuries over the course of the season, Cruz hauled in 86 passes for almost 1,100 yards and a team-best 10 touchdowns.
Of course overshadowing Cruz’s ranking is the lingering contract dispute between the wideout and the team.
A number of high-ranking Giants officials have expressed optimism about a deal being struck before the June OTAs, and by numerous accounts, the sides have been making progress. [/sny-editorial]
