Giants inquired about Darrelle Revis

The Giants are among some of the teams that have inquired about Darrelle Revis (Rapoport, March 12).

Tampa Bay is expected to trade or release Revis by 4 p.m. on Wednesday (Schefter, March 11).

Jerry Reese always tells us that he “explores everything.” This is simply procedure for him. CB is still a glaring need this spring, why not make the call? Depending on the Giants’ long distance phone plan, the call probably cost pennies at the most.

As good as Revis is, he’s not really a fit for the Giants, especially financially. Reese will not surrender his top picks and then absorb a $16 million cap hit. Revis is probably headed for New England or a team that has a ton of cap room.

Going to a winning organization in not a top priority for Revis, who is, after all, a businessman first and a football player second. Just ask the Jets, who had to renegotiate his contract several times.

Can we please do some research before we post things like this...according to three different experts on nfl network, if a team trades for revis, they can restructure his contract so that it would only be a 5.6 million cap hit to the receiving team...Revis would still get paid his $16 million but as a fan, who the heck cares??? It's not my money..if he doesn't work out you cut him after this year....I only care about the cap hit...5.6 million for Revis? Yes please

I could see Revis working in the Giants system. He's asking for too much though. If we could get him in a one year deal and see how it goes, I'd be all in for that

Why do people hate on Revis. John you have to be better than that.  ALL FOOTBALL PLAYERS ARE BUSINESS MEN FIRST AND FOOTBALL PLAYERS SECOND,

and by the way Owners are Business men first and loyal second as well. As players get cut long before their contracts are up why am I going to hold Revis to some ABSURD Loyalty that the Giants and especially the owners do not care about.

Lets take Tuck for example this guy has gotten us two super bowls and the giants show no loyalty at all its a business people.  Revis is no different than any other player. The only difference is being the best gives you the leverage to renegotiate thats how the system works and how it will always work until they give players guaranteed big contracts.  Owners wont do that why? Because they don't want to have to stick it out with players if they lose value or get hurt.

So all of sudden Revis is not a team player because he wants more from the owners who would cut him in a heart beat if he broke his leg?  Give me break.  When he is on the field he plays great football and that all that matters.

If the giants can sign Revis to a reasonable salary after he is released I am all for it.  People are absurd.

Where he certainly was the best cover guy in the league, he also was very focused on his contract.  He never felt he was making enough.

I think it is good to do your due dilligence about talent when it becomes available, but it's most likely that the giants couldn't afford him now - or after signing him.

He's not coming to Big blue
