John Fennelly, Lead WriterDay three of free agency begat some mild surprises for the Giants and their fans. Defensive captain Justin Tuck left the Giants after nine seasons for Silver and Black pastures, signing a two-year, $11 million deal with the Oakland Raiders.
The Giants brought back FB Henry Hynoski to a one-year, $1 million contract. He had several meetings with the Lions, but he ended up back here.
The particulars of LB Jon Beason’s contract were disclosed. He’ll get $19 million over three years, with $7 million guaranteed with $12 million to be paid out over the first two years.
Backup QB Curtis Painter’s deal is believed to be around the veteran minimum. Pat Traina reported the contract to be one year at $795K with a 65K signing bonus.
Several players the Giants had interest in all chose to sign elsewhere. TE Andrew Quarless signed back with the Packers. DB Tracy Porter is headed for Washington and WR/KR Ted Ginn, Jr. decided to accept an offer from Cardinals.
Former Giant WR signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears.
WR Hakeem Nicks has gone on tour. Nicks will be in Indianapolis Friday and hopes to make trips to San Diego and Carolina soon.
