The Giants have cut running back Da’Rel Scott, the team announced.
Taking Scott’s place on the roster is center/guard Dallas Reynolds.
Scott had 16 carries for 56 yards this season, with one touchdown. The Giants only have David Wilson, Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox on the roster at running back right now. Andre Brown is eligible to come off the injured reserve and play on November 10.
Reynolds most recently played with the Eagles, signing with them as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and sticking with the team — in some capacity — through 2012. Reynolds helps shore up an offensive line that is missing David Baas and Chris Snee.
The team also cut OL Steven Baker from the practice squad and signed wide receiver Marcus Harris to the PS.
John Fennelly, Lead WriterWhat this move tells me is the Giants are fed up with Scott and feel Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox alone can spell David Wilson, who will probably get more touches now. Don’t forget Andre Brown is due back in Week 9.
The signing of Reynolds is a bad sign for the Giants, period. Baas and Snee are hurting more than the team originally anticipated and their backups are not providing sufficient peace of mind to the coaches.
