Giants announce official roster cuts

From the Giants:

Two players were placed on injured reserve: safety Cooper Taylor, who injured the sesamoid bone in his left foot in Indianapolis on Aug. 16, and wide receiver Marcus Harris, who has a hip injury.

Two players were waived/injured: linebacker Justin Anderson (hamstring) and defensive end Emmanuel Dieke (knee).

Eleven players were waived: cornerbacks Charles James and Ross Weaver; safeties C.J. Barnett and Kyle Sebetic; linebacker Spencer Adkins; wide receiver Travis Harvey; tight ends Xavier Grimble and Jerome Cunningham; guard John Sullen; defensive tackle Everett Dawkins; and kicker Brandon McManus.

The team is now down to 75 players.

The Giants will need to make final cuts by 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Correction. The Giants announced Harris was placed on IR with a torn labrum in his hip when in actuality the injury is to the shoulder.

As for the cuts…nothing unexpected, with the exception of James and Adkins who I thought would last until final cuts. James hurt his chances by not being part of the return teams. With Adkins, the return of Spencer Paysinger limited his chances.

6:45: Grimble and the Giants have come to an injury settlement.

Does the injury settlement prevent them from bringing back Grimble on practice squad? Or did team decide he doesn't have the chops to play in NFL?

Im telling ya you listen to the "experts" and you would think there is no reason to play the season. Denver/NE will win the AFC and San Fran/Seattle/Philly will win the NFC. Just make it easy and just play those teams in a playoff right now.

In Philadelphia the team gets energized every day looking at all of the Championship trophies they have accumulated over the past 50 years.  Wait, you mean all the preseason championships that they have been awarded over the years don't count?  So I guess going back 54 years to find a championship trophy must be tough....

Philly has always been overhyped, and will continue to disappoint this year.

So true. Foles played great last year for half a season. This year his numbers could come down to earth.

Well according to Peter King the NFC East except for Philly should just surrender the season. Can the nice people at the bigblueblitz and similar blogs for the Cowboys and Skins have a representative from their prospective blogs tell the head coaches that they might as well just give the Eagles their 6 division wins. It might be a hard pill to swallow but why fight the inevitable. Mr. Fennelly why don't you tell Coach Coughlin to start the process rolling. Oh wait. So in the NFL there's a chance that a team can have injuries and maybe they don't play well every game and can lose. Hmmm. Maybe they should just PLAY THE FRICKEN GAMES BEFORE THEY ANOINT A TEAM DIVISION CHAMPS BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS...AHHHHHHHH. Sorry for yelling. Its annoying that the games havent started yet but the division is over and the Eagles have won the Super Bowl and not one regular season game has been played.
