Free Agent Visits: Charles Brown (NYG), Brian De La Puente (WAS)

Former Saints tackle Charles Brown will be visiting the Giants. (Caplan, March 19)

Saints’ UFA center Brian De La Puente is visiting the Washington Redskins. (Wilson, March 19)

From Rotoworld: Brown can play both left and right tackle and has 22 career starts under his belt, with 14 of those coming in 2013. He gave up seven sacks and 33 hurries as the Saints left tackle in 2013 and was benched in Week 15 after getting lit up by Rams RE Robert Quinn. Brown would likely be the swing man in New York.

Don’t get too excited over the Brown visit. He’s not going to be a starter if the Giants sign him. A backup at best. DLP going to Washington is the bigger story. It’s his first known visit in free agency thus far, which means there’s little interest in him. He might bite on any decent order at this point.

DLP should be on the next plane to MetLife.

Getting beat by Quinn isn't something to be ashamed about. I'm sure a lot of LT have been beaten by Quinn. If Brown was good enough to protect Brees for the other 13 starts last year, then he can at least be a fair backup Tackle at a minimum. Nothing wrong with that, especially since our current backups either aren't very good or not very experienced.

One thing I always say when we are recruiting here at work - we want candidates that are desired by other companies.  If no one is interested in BLP - there may be a message there.

I like it!!! Brown is only 26. Looks like he will be William Beatty's backup.
