Looking to upgrade its linebacking corps, the New York Giants worked out free agent Sergio Kindle yesterday.
Kindle, who left the Giants facility without a contract, was cut from the Baltimore Raven’s practice squad earlier this month.
The former Texas pass-rusher was drafted by the Ravens in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. His career hit a speed bump, however, when he fractured his skull while falling down the stairs his rookie season.
Kindle, a former All-Big 12 selection, endured neurological problems as a result of the accident and suffered permanent hearing damage in his left ear.
This season, he was active for just two games.
Baltimore dropped Kindle from the active roster in October to make room for Terrell Suggs. In 2011, he plead guilty to a driving under the influence charge in Howard County, Md.
The Giants will have to make critical decisions about their linebacking corps this off-season. Chase Blackburn is a free agent and there are questions looming about the future of Keith Rivers.
