Former Raven LB McClain to visit Giants

Buffalo Bills beat reporter Joe Buscaglia tweeted free agent ILB Jameel McClain, who visited with the Bills today, will visit the Giants next.

From Rotoworld:

McClain is visiting the Bills Wednesday but plans to make the trip east to the Meadowlands. The soon-to-be 29-year-old played all over the second level of the defense for the Ravens during his time with Baltimore. He’d ideally play the middle. If the Giants re-sign MLB Jon Beason, McClain could play outside.

The Syracuse alum played six seasons with the Ravens, having his best year in 2011 when he recorded 83 total tackles.  He was released by the Ravens on February 27. More from Rotoworld:

McClain put 10 ordinary games on film last season after returning from a spinal cord injury, but has 55 games of starting experience. He’s unlikely to draw interest as a starter in the first wave of free agency, but could be viewed as a cheaper option once the big names are signed. McClain has never graded out positively as a starter in Pro Football Focus’ ratings.

When I saw the headline McClain to visit the Giants I though you meant crazy town Rolondo McClain.  Man, many Giants fans missed the mark with that dude including me.  Many were projecting him to the Giants at 15 but the Raiders grabbed him up at #8.  McClain is out of football and JPP (who we got at #15 in that draft) may never be whole again.  It just goes to show you just never know what's going to happen with these prospects once they get on an NFL field.

I digress.  This Jameel McClain interest seems like a hedge against losing someone like Paysinger.  If they don't resign Beason I'm hopeful it's because we have our eyes on a better inside linebacker.

Mediocre linebacker? Fits right in with what the Giants like out of their LBs. Lol. #bettersignbeason
