Travis Beckum, the ultimate “tweener” TE that had very little success in Giants uniform, has signed as a free agent with the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks:
From Rotoworld: Beckum, 27, was out of the league last season and played just 23 snaps in four games for the Giants in 2012. The former third-round pick hasn’t been the same since tearing his ACL in the Super Bowl two Februarys ago. Beckum is an athletic pass-catching tight end who will compete for a roster spot this summer.
Beckum played in 44 games as a Giant from 2009-12, starting only twice. He never really had a natural position in Blue, even with Mike Pope coaching him up. He was considered too small to be a traditional blocking TE and he lacked the skills to be a seam-breaker. In retrospect, Beckum is considered another of Jerry Reese’s early-to-mid round draft follies.
